Doyle Brunson won in the World Series of Poker two straight years in a row in 1976 & 1977. He participated in the No-Limit Texas Hold'em Poker as a main event. After this, he published a book entitled "Doyle Brunson's Super System" in the year 1979. Originally, the title of the book was "How I Made Over $1,000,000 Playing Poker". Here's how it all began.
Doyle Brunson, also known as "Texas Dolly", wrote a book so the amateur poker players can catch-up with the professionals. It was entitled Doyle Brunson's Super System. It discusses many different variations of poker and includes Doyle Brunson's biography. After 25 years of Doyle Brunson's Super System's publication, he decided to release a sequel. Doyle Brunson's Super System's sequel was equally interesting. Doyle Brunson did not write the sequel alone. Other poker professionals contributed some chapters to it as well. We'll discuss these two books as we go along.
Doyle Brunson created his Doyle Brunson's Super System for amateur poker players. It was written in a certain way to help amateurs catch up with the professionals. The book begins about Doyle Brunson's life and career. Doyle Brunson's Super System also discusses many different poker variations. It includes tips and strategies and helps people understand how to play poker.
After 25 years of Doyle Brunson's Super System's publication the strategies and statistics mentioned in it are still useful today. But after some time many new variants came out. Some of the later poker variants were not included in the first book. So Doyle Brunson along with his co-professionals wrote a second book.
This is the beginning of the sequel to Doyle Brunson's Super System II. It's subtitled 'Course in Power Poker'. Some later editions of Doyle Brunson's Super System II were entitled "Super/System: A Course in Power Poker". Doyle Brunson's Super System II was published in October of 2004.
Doyle Brunson's Super System II is broken up into several sections. Each section covers different variants of poker. A professional poker player authors each section of Doyle Brunson's Super System II. Each professional gave his own advice and tips.
Here's how the sections were divided including the player who wrote them:
Mike Caro is wrote the section on Draw Poker. Chip Reese wrote about the Seven-card Stud. Joey Hawthorne and Doyle Brunson co-authored Lowball. David Sklansky was assigned to write about Seven-card Stud high-low split with no qualifier for low. Bobby Baldwin wrote about Limit Texas Hold'em. The Section on No-limit Texas Hold'em was written by Doyle Brunson.
Doyle Brunson's Super System is not just like any old off-the mill book -- it's a guide to help us keep up with the pros. Doyle Brunson's Super System changed the way how poker was played. It made poker a much more exciting game.
